Gotham's final season will have a mystery villain, and the person playing him is a fan-favorite from another genre series.
Nikita star, Shane West, has been added to the cast of the Fox drama's final season, according to Deadline.
The character he will play is Eduardo Dorrance, a man from Jim Gordon's past. They served at the same time in the Army.

While Dorrance's return to Gotham is a shocker, he arrives with an offer for Gordon to help bring the city back from the brink of destruction.
However, it soon becomes apparent to Gordon that “Dorrance’s true intentions in Gotham are much darker and more evil than he could have believed.”

Sounds ominous, and fascinating all that same time, right?
The Batman prequel looks set to be putting its own spin on this character. In the comics, there was a villain named Edmund Dorrance.

That character was King Snake and was the father of Bane, so we think it's fair to say the series is going to be going all meta on us during the final episodes.
Gotham was renewed for a final season back in May after the on-air ratings for Gotham Season 4 continued to trend downwards.

Camren Bicondova later revealed to fans via an Instagram live that just ten episodes will be produced, meaning that Gotham will conclude with 98 episodes.
What's more, the actress revealed that Fox would not be airing the series before January, so it means there's a wait in store for fans.

Gotham Season 4 averaged 2.6 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49. These figures mark declines of almost 30 percent year-to-year.
The show remains a solid option with DVR viewing factored in, but the truncated episode order could be attributed to the lack of space on Fox's schedule.
The network is pressing on with Thursday Night Football this fall, and that means some shows are being delayed until later in the season.

In fact, the network as a whole looks to be leaning towards more live sports entertainment what with Smackdown eating up the network's Friday night line-up come fall 2019.
